This is probably the oldest school photo available of a class at Clifton School.  It is taken in front of the original building which stood on the NW corner of the present school lot.  The building dates from the 1830s when it was built for a Methodist Church.  Town platters later gave the church another piece of land to build on so the village could have its school centrally located.

This group is apparently on an outing to Clifton Gorge.  At the back left are Orville Armstrong, Walter Cultice and Mac Anderson who were in the Class of 1909.  The other faces do not match up with the other photos of the Class of 1909 and some of these kids look younger than others so this photo is mostly a mystery.  If you recognize any of these folks, let us know! info@cliftonohiohistory.org
